DEDICATED TO MAKING HUMAN CARE EASIER

Hooker Pacific’s Craig Gunn with Howard Wright’s Logistic Controller Matt Gally. Hopefully these are beds you won’t have to lie in, but if you do, you’ll appreciate the level of design and quality manufacturing that has gone into Howard Wright’s range of medical beds.
With a design philosophy of “making human care easier”, Howard Wright in New Plymouth has been designing and manufacturing medical beds and stretchers since the 1960s. And for at least the last 25 years, Hooker Pacific has been helping transport these highly specialised beds to district health boards right around New Zealand, as well as into Australia, Japan, North America and Europe.
Around New Zealand, that could range from delivering individual beds to multiple truckloads such as the recent delivery of around 600 ward beds to the Waikato district health board, says Hooker Pacific’s Moving and Storage General Manager, Ross Adamson.
“These beds are specialty products that require a great deal of care when loading and transporting,” explains Ross. “Some of our drivers have been taking care of Howard Wright beds for more than 20 years – so they know just how to load them without damage.”
With Howard Wright’s production plant being located right across the road from Hooker Pacific’s New Plymouth hub, this also allows them to act as a storage facility for both the incoming raw material and components for the beds, as well as the finished beds.
Export logistics for the beds are handled by TNL International who are a TIL Group partner along with Hooker Pacific. This arrangement adds up to a seamless transport solution, says Howard Wright’s Logistics Controller, Matt Gally.
“Hookers deliver a container to us, we load it, lock and seal it and Hookers and TNL take care of everything else including clearing customs, “says Matt.
Having recently won significant supply tenders for Australian medical facilities, Howard Wright is shipping two to three containers a week. The big forty foot containers can take up to 50 beds at a time – all packed into their own protective packing cases.
“Hookers and TNL provide us with an easy transport solution delivering our beds right to the hospital door,” says Matt.
